Recommended Books

"The Coaching Habit"

If you want the fastest, most-actionable coaching book ever, this might be it. Michael Bungay Stanier does a brilliant job breaking down the fundamentals of coaching into 7 powerful questions. It literally shows you how to have much more impactful conversations with anyone in way less time.

"Never Split the Difference"

Author Chris Voss is a former international hostage negotiator for the FBI. In his book, he offers a highly usable approach to high-stakes negotiations that I have found to be universally applicable. It's a fascinating read with lots of real-world examples. Moreover, Chris offers great insights into the human psyche and human needs.

"Four Thousand Weeks"

What's 4000 weeks? Roughly all the time you have if you live to be 80 years old. It's shockingly brief, much less time than I anticipated a "lifetime" would be. Oliver Burkeman argues that instead of competing against ever-growing to-do lists on a journey to the elusive point of "completion" (that no one will ever reach), one has to accept the brevity of life and learn to focus on what is truly meaningful. The results are liberating.

"Atomic Habits"

James Clear's framework for developing good habits while breaking bad ones is powerful. But the biggest takeaway from his book is how incredibly impactful tiny changes become over time. Think compound interest. I like books that combine real-life advice with business impact and human insights. This is one of them.

"How Minds Change"

David McRaney takes you on a fascinating journey through the human mind. Using examples from conspiracy-theorists, 9/11 Truthers, and Flat-Earthers, he scientifically explains how beliefs are formed, how opinions are developed, and what it takes to persuade someone (spoiler alter: facts won’t do it). He speaks to experts in political canvassing and dives deep into their strategies. It’s a book about the science and the experience of transformation.
