How I Work

You may ask: “How on earth can I devote any attention to coaching?”

 

Fast-growing companies are all about instability. Everything fights for your attention and priority: your product, your finances, your team, your customers, your board, your investors. You make tough calls every day, with no easy answers. You work all the time, yet feel always behind, meanwhile some of the most critical issues hardly get attention at all.

 

In my experience, no Founder has time for academic exercises. There's too much going on to focus on things outside the critical path. 

 

Therefore, Founder Coaching needs net-positive value from the first session.

Through working with me, expect the following outcomes:

  • You will get unstuck, and gain clarity on what’s holding you back.

  • You will become better at sustaining peak performance.

  • You will engage human connections at all levels, maximizing the people around you.

  • You will gain focus on what’s most important for the company, while shedding situations and things beneath your attention.

  • You will improve your ability to handle conflict, and negotiate deals.

  • You will build the team and company culture that’s true to your identity, thereby attracting and maintaining a great team.

When working with me, expect the following workflow:

  • Define concrete goals for your growth as a leader, over 3 and 6 month periods.

  • In each session, we solve real-life challenges, based on what’s important for you right now.

  • We will frequently gather feedback from the people around you: C-Suite, division leads, and board members.

  • We reevaluate and adjust your goals based on what’s already working, and what you want to accomplish next.

  • If it’s valuable, I can act as a sounding board for subject matter discussions around your business.

  • Between sessions, I’m available for ad-hoc communication, responding within 24h.

To be clear: Coaching is not advising. It's not about prescribing solutions to problems. That’s what consulting is for. Rather, coaching is all about cultivating real insight in the learner. That’s one “human connection” through all my clients: they identify as lifelong learners.
